About the Studio:

Papier mache and polymer, are the two main mediums I sculpt in. Along with what's on my website, I have pieces on ebay throughout the year. Papier Mache Pieces on auction are usually seasonal, but not always, click the link above or search seller: bella*cavallo*studios from the advanced search on ebay.

Along with sculpting, I also have a Painting & Restoration business. (Murals, faux painting, cleaning & restoration of paintings, mirrors, woodwork & antiques.)  So I am usually ~ full of paint!

My love of sculpting started with one package of modeling clay when I was just a child. From this one package my sister and I created a family of clay people and accessories. Every once in a while my father would come home with a new package of clay. So our family and their stuff would grow.

We had a table under the steps with chunks of wood scraps from the woodshop for walls and an entire household of clay. It was better than store bought dollhouse.
If we wanted something new, we made it. And we had everything: pets, kids, toys, pictures on the walls, a stove, a refrigerator, a kitchen sink, pots & pans, dishes, pies, cakes, turkey dinners, the  clay dog food dish had little tiny bits of clay dog food. If we needed a special color, we mixed until we figured out how to mix it. We changed their hair-do's, created new ''programs'' for the clay TV and created new items daily.

When I look back at those days under the steps with my sister and our wonderful creation in clay, they are among my fondest memories of childhood. That clay world was better than video games or movies. What better use for our minds, and hands?

So next time you're wondering what to get for a child's birthday party gift or how you are going to keep your own kids out of your hair for awhile.

I recommend a plastic table cloth and a package of clay.

All my polymer pieces are original One of a Kind, NO molds are used for the design of any part of my sculpts.

Each piece is fired according to the manufacturers specifications as far as temp and time. Carefully constructed armatures provide stability for all my polymer pieces.

My polymer pieces are more detailed and realistic. The attention to the small details is my favorite part. I like to sew also. Adapting patterns and creating tiny articles of clothing is also a favorite.

Each piece is handcrafted from papier mache and papier pulp clay. Then hand painted with artist grade acrylics and sealed with an artists final-coat varnish. No wheat/flour paste is used in the creation of any of my designs. This prevents molds and souring.

My papier mache is an outlet for my whimsical, more silly side. ( I am a Gemini, if couldn't you tell? ) Most of these pieces are seasonal, holiday in nature, but not all. I am hoping to get a chance to work on some more historical characters and non-seasonal pieces this year.
